Comb Collective was conceived at a weeks long residency at Phenzhopehaugh. During the week we set certain parameters for ourselves such as having no mobile phones, no internet, no laptops and no internet. The only technology which we permitted was use of digital cameras, with footage and photography gathered for later editing.
Every day one person would lead a workshop in the morning, giving us all a moment to come together collaboratively and learn from each others practices. The workshops included: the site specific install of a mosaic led by Andy, a reading and writing group facilitated by Lily, a walking and drawing group from by Crimson, Moth collection and categorisation run by Hamish, a song writing workshop exploring appropriation by Josh, and a game exploring individual versus collective practice organised by Beth. We also had the botanist Epithanny lead a morning of identification of local flora and fauna, and the financial and political elements of local wildlife conservation. Our afternoons and evenings were for personal exploration. This involved collating resources for future artworks, sharing texts and exploring the landscape.
Below are some analogue images captured by Lily and Crimson from the week.
